Gordon Brown has stated that there will be more university places next year. Gordon brown has made the startling promise but has not put a figure on how much it is going to cost.

Applications for university are 10% higher than last year which may leave thousands of wannabe students disappointed. In fact around 50,000 people more are applying for university this year. The push for more university places will be pushed through Parliament quickly as A levels results are due shortly.

A European Commission report has shown that over a fifth of all UK students have moved into higher education, this is more than the EU average of 19%. The UK is also spending more on education than the rest of Europe at 5.5% compared to an average of Europe of 5%.
